CHICHESTER HIGH SCHOOL INVOLVEMENT TEAM
BY-LAWS
ARTICLE I. NAME
The name of this organization shall be the Chichester High School Involvement Team.
ARTICLE II. OBJECTIVES
-
To provide extra curricular activities and communications
between parents and school staff.
-
To bring a knowledge of our school life to the general public.
-
To develop a closer relationship between the school and the
community.
ARTICLE III. POLICIES
-
This association shall be non-commercial, non-sectarian and
non-partisan, endorsing no candidate or enterprise. The
name of this organization or the names of its officers shall
not be used in any commercial enterprise.
-
The organization shall cooperate with other organizations
active in child welfare, providing no commitments are made
to bid the member group.
-
The organization shall cooperate with school in support of
improving education and shall not seek to direct the
administrative activities of the school or control its policies.
ARTICLE IV. MEMBERSHIP AND DUES
-
Any person subscribing to the objectives of the organization
may become a member upon payment of dues as
hereinafter provided.
-
Annual dues shall be $3.00 per family. Members must be
adults with student(s) in Chichester High School.
-
An annual membership drive shall be conducted. Additional
members shall be accepted at any time.
ARTICLE V. OFFICERS AND ELECTIONS
-
The officers of this association shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.
-
Officers shall be elected by ballot in the month of June.
However, if there is but one nominee for any office, it shall
be in order to move that the secretary cast the elective
ballot of organization for the nominee.
-
Nominees for office must be current members of the organization.
-
Officers shall assume their official duties during the first
regular meeting in the month of July and shall serve for a
term of one (1) year and until the election and qualifications
of their successors.
-
A vacancy in an office may be filled immediately by
members of the executive board at their discretion.
-
The method for nominating and electing officers shall be as follows:
-
Written request for volunteer officers shall be
distributed each May.
-
Elections will take place at the last General Meeting
of the school year.
ARTICLE VI. DUTIES OF OFFICERS
-
The President shall preside at all meeting of the
organization. He/She shall be a member ex officio of all
committees except the nominating committee. The
President will also appoint special committees and shall
perform all duties to the office.
-
The Vice-President shall act as an aide to the President and
shall perform the duties of the President in his/her absence.
-
The Secretary shall record minutes of all regular and
executive meetings and perform such other duties as may
be delegated to him/her. The Secretary shall be in charge of
correspondence and publicity.
-
The Treasurer shall receive all monies of the organization,
keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures, and
make payment of funds only if authorized by the
organization. The Treasurer’s accounts shall be examined
annually by an auditing committee of two to three
members, who satisfied that the report is correct, shall sign
a statement of the fact. This shall be done prior to the end
of the fiscal year.

All officers shall perform their duties prescribed in the
parliamentary authority.

All officers of this organization shall serve without pay. They
shall not be compensated for any personal expenses.
-
All officers shall deliver to their successors all official
material prior to the end of the election year.
ARTICLE VII. MEETINGS
-
General membership meetings shall be held during the
months of October, December, March and May, or as
deemed necessary by the Executive Committee.
-
With proper notice of the meeting having been given, any
members present shall be able to transact business in any
meeting of this organization.
-
The annual meeting shall be the last regularly scheduled
meeting of the year.
ARTICLE VIII. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
-
The executive committee shall consist of the officers of this
organization, chairman of standing committees, a principal
and a representative of the school.
-
The chairman of the executive committee shall be the
elected President of the organization.
-
The duties of the executive committee shall be to:
-
Transact necessary business between meetings.
-
Create standing committees.
-
Approve plans of work by standing committees.
-
Present a report at regular meetings.
-
Appoint auditing committees when deemed
necessary.
-
Approve routine bills.
-
When deemed necessary, the chairman of the executive committee shall be
responsible for scheduling monthly
meetings of the executive committee.
-
Any member of the executive committee missing three (3)
consecutive meetings, other than for extenuating
circumstances, will relinquish the privilege to serve on this
committee.
ARTICLE IX. STANDING AND SPECIAL COMMITTEES
-
Committees shall be appointed by the executive committee
when necessary to promote the objectives of the organization.
-
Chairperson of each committee shall present a plan of work
to the executive committee for approval. No work shall be
undertaken without such approval.
ARTICLE X. PARLIMENTARY PROCEDURE
-
The By-Laws of this organization shall be deemed to be part
of its articles of organization.
-
These By-Laws shall supercede any previous by-laws of this
organization.
ARTICLE XI. AMENDMENTS
-
By-Laws may be amended at any regular meeting by a two-thirds vote of the members present, provided that written
notice of the proposed amendment shall have been
distributed to the membership two (2) weeks prior to the
general meetings.
