Please check your child's folder every night for important notices.
We are working on fluency, retellings, strategies, and accuracy in their daily and evening readings. Sight word rings and 100 Book Challenge are great ways to help improve your child's reading. Please read to your child each night. Your child will be bringing home a bag with three books in it. Have him or her read all three of them, then have them choose their favorite one. Write the book's title and the date on their log and add your signature. The bag with the books needs to be returned every day. Please practice reading every night. We use the Kid Writing program in our classroom. Your child will learn to use materials in our classroom to help with his or her writing. They include the Word Wall, rhyming chunks, picture charts, theme-related folders, and more. Math We are working on addition and subtraction facts to 10. We are also practicing our numbers to 100, counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s. Throughout the year, your child will be learning a variety of math concepts, including addition, subtraction, patterns, time, money, measurement, and basic geometry. Social Studies and Science Our curriculum is made up of integrated thematic units, as well as National Geographic for Kids. We're learning about topics in our community and the world around us.
