The “Ambassadors of Song” Choral Members

 

Welcome to music 2007-2008!

·        This year we are using a new music book called “Making Music”. This book includes exciting new songs and activities. There are online sites that will enable you to explore a “Musical  Encyclopedia” and listen to the sounds of instruments recorded in the “Sound Bank”. www.sfsuccessnet.com

 

·        Grades K, 1 and 2 will be performing on the “Boomwhackers”. www.MusicK8.com

 

·        Grades 2, 3 and 4 will be performing on the “Recorder” instrument. www.factmonster.com

 

·        All students become outstanding singing students when they use their “Butterscotch Singing Voice”  www.factmonster.com

 

·        Every month students can be selected to represent the, “Singing Student of the Month”. Selected student will receive a certificate and their photo can be viewed on the “Chi Channel”.

 

·        During music class, students are expected to participate in all activities listed in the “National Standards”.

 

National  Music Standards 

1.      Singing, alone and with others.

2.      Playing instruments, alone and with others.

3.      Making new melodies, making changes to the music and playing background to music.

4.      Making our own songs and changing songs of others.

5.      Reading and writing music.

6.      Listening to, figuring out and describing music.

7.      Naming the reasons we like certain music and performances.

8.      Making connections between music and other things.

9.      Learning about the times and places of songs.

·        All students are expected to follow the “Music Room” rules and accept the consequences.

 

 Music Room Rules  

  1. I must not call out.
  2. I must not talk to my neighbor.
  3. I must keep my hands and feet to myself.
  4. I will sing and participate in classroom activities.

Consequences

  1. First infraction, receive a check.
  2. Second infraction, receive a check.
  3. Third infraction, receive a check and give up one day of recess. Recess time will be spent in the music room, supervised by Ms. Manerchia. Phone call to parent.

·        Students attend and participate in a 45 minute music special two days during a 6 day cycle.

  • Grade 3 chorus rehearsal is on C day  1:00 - 1:45 pm
  • Grade 4 chorus rehearsal is on D day  1:00 - 1:45 pm

 

·        The “Ambassadors of Song” is a chorus based activity composed of 3rd and 4th grade students. This activity is a community service activity promoting song and positive character traits. Solo auditions are required and a contract agreement must be signed by the student and his/her parent.
