PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Physical Education is an opportunity to incorporate the physical, mental, emotional, and social aspects of learning. The goal is to promote and educate life-long fitness skills, as well as sportsmanship, sharing, self-esteem, and confidence - for every student to be challenged, as well as every student being able to succeed.

Grades kindergarten through second grade will focus on units such as spatial awareness, locomotor movements, obstacle courses, throw/catch/strike, and chasing/fleeing.  They will learn about their own personal space and about respecting others space while moving in a congested area and maintaining spatial awareness.

Grades third and fourth will begin sport-related units as well as non-traditional units.  In each unit, students will learn and practice one to three skills and begin lead up games before being able to utilize these new skills in a game situation.
