100 Book Challenge All third grade students are participating in the 100 Book Challenge program. This program gives every student the opportunity to read books at his/her independent reading level. Research shows that students who read for 1 hour everyday from books that they can (and want to) read will succeed in school and beyond. The "At Home" portion of this program is critical for your child's success. The more books your child reads at his/her independent level, the better reader he/she will become. Please check to see that your child is bringing home his/her 100 Book Challenge materials, and reading for at least 15 minutes each night. Don't forget to sign his/her reading log! Ask your child to tell you about what he/she has read. Use questions on the colored cards to guide your discussion. Your child will become a successful reader with your encouragement and support.
